Meet Ruchita, the founder of AMAR KOSA, it is a Bangalore based startup. Ruchita left her corporate job and start her own venture which means ‘eternal collection’ in Sanskrit.

My family motivates me completely. Both my kids and my husband are extremely supportive of what i’m doing currently and i’m so thankful to my husband for always believing in me, says Ruchita.

We got an opportunity to talk with Ruchita,  the founder of AMAR KOSA. Read her story to know more about her journey as an entrepreneur.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

I belong to a small town called Barabanki, near Lucknow(U.P). I’ve done my schooling from Scindia school Gwalior. After that i did my Textile designing from Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai. I did Fashion design and garment technology course from NIFT, Delhi.

Before starting my own venture AMAR KOSA, I’ve worked with several export houses /buying houses in delhi. I’ve worked with international brands like GAP, American eagle and ANF.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

I have 2 sons, after my second son was born, I could not carry on with the hectic travel and the work profile which any clothing brand would demand. Hence in 2016 I quit my corporate career and started my own Label,  AMAR KOSA. It’s a word from the ancient language of Sanskrit, which means ‘eternal collection’.

What motivates you?

My family motivates me completely. Both my kids and my husband are extremely supportive of what i’m doing currently and i’m so thankful to my husband for always believing in me.

How do you plan to stay ahead of your competitors?

I don’t believe in any planned strategies or theories. I take each day as it comes, so far we have managed to do pretty decent and I guess with the same spirit and  fire within we plan continue our journey. However our hand-crafted and hand finished premium quality and fit is what gives us an edge over others.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

I don’t think I dreamt or thought of doing anything else other than what i’m doing right now. I’m extremely passionate about what I’m doing. As a child I was always been very fond of clothes and dressing up and I think somewhere it all started from there itself.

Were your parents supportive of what you are doing? What impact have they had on your life?

I originally belong to a very conservative background.  However I was raised by my aunt( my father’s elder sister) who was a very progressive lady.  She was unmarried and was a very well known and busy gynaecologist of her time in the town. She has always been my mother and father both. She’s always been my role model in my life and I’m hugely influenced by her in whatever I do till today . Although she is no more now, but she’s left a deep trace on my heart and mind forever.

What are your plans for the next 2 years?

I have very big plans for my brand. We have recently launched our website and coming up with a store in Koramangla.  We also have tied up with few big boutique stores in the town.  Hoping to spread AMAR KOSA brand across pan India.

What does a typical day off from work consist of for you?

I enjoy simple joys of life with kids and family. I am quite passionate about eating:) so if i’m not working i love to cook or bake , eat and relax. I’m also quite dedicated to my work outs which i don’t like to miss whether it’s a busy day or an off day, I don’t like to compromise on my gym:)

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

One should not waste energy on thinking about the regrets, I think we all have some or the other regrets at some point of life but what is important is to not focus on what we have missed out. Rather strongly focus all your energy in what you want and then you see how things start moving the way you want them to.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

I would like to meet PM Narendra Modi.

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

Enjoy it while it lasts:)
