Give a brief info about your startup?

Commencing its journey in 2016 as a pre-purchase car inspection platform for customers looking to purchase pre-owned cars, the mind behind CheckMyGaadi slowly understood the daily hassle that every car owner has to go through, when it comes to repairs and servicing of the vehicle. Brainchild of Mr. Ram Jaiswal, the company now functions with a whopping 15 employees and serves more than 10 customers every day. 13 years of expertise of Mr. Ram metamorphosed his dream into reality in 2016.

With the team of experts, along with the trust of thousands of customers who boosted their pre-purchase inspections, CheckMyGaadi became what it is today.

Company has recently (Dec 18) entered into Car Servicing platform with 3 of  the Product line. , An all-in-one convenience platform for all major and minor car services. With a clear and determined goal, they ensure best possible services to the customers thereby making them save their time and effort.

Now, The company provides one-stop solution for all the auto needs, right from Annual Car Maintenance, minor repairs to major replacements and routine servicing. The company offers comprehensive packages- SMART Care , VALUE Care and LUXE Care that have been specifically drafted keeping in mind to provide maximum benefits to the customers as per their requirement.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

Post MBA I worked with many companies in Marketing and sales Department, Being a strategy guy I always used to find different ways and innovative way for my works which helped my taking growth and rewards every time. After couple of years I realized I am a person  who is not made for doing a particular assignment and always wanted to do something for the ease of society and common people concerns. It took me years to explore various options. Automobile has always been my passion and I still remember when I purchase my first car, due to desire of having a premium sedan and budget constraint I thought of going for a pre owned one and that was  the first time I realized the pain point. Every car at any platform I found was looking excellent outside  but I was not sure what is inside and what are the issues.  I did not had my own mechanic who could come to check every vehicle which I liked. When I inquired all my known and other buyers, they had the similar issues. That was the time, I knew where to start.

Again it took me an year to have extensive market research, planning and starting our first product Pre Inspection Services. Name of our company itself talks about the origin of the idea.

 

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

I am an Economics Graduate from BHU and MBA from Pune. I still remember my first job at ICICI Pru as a financial consultant, I am a strong beliver on thinking and working differently than the books to achieve my goals and I am happy to say that it really worked and works when you create a different path to achieve goals, I got promoted in an year and the journey continued with Max, Aviva, Reliance.

I knew working for a particular assignment is not what I am aimed for and my passion towards Automobile always haunted me to do something. It took me years to decide and finally CheckMyGaadi born.

 

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

CheckMygaadi is based out of Delhi. We believe Delhi NCR is the best place where we could start for this Venture. Delhi itself has highest no of registered Car in India and being NCR associated,  Delhi becomes the largest market in India for  Automobile service startup.

 

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

Journey of a startup is never easy, You have to wear various caps on daily basis. Patience is the key thing,  You can not build a brand overnight or have free flow customers. Hiring right talent is again a challenge as everyone looks for a bigger and establish brand to work for. There are many things which keeps you awake at night, Every day you have a new challeng.

 

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

There are few of them like GoMechanic, Crossroad, Carpathy, Gaadizo and Pitstop who works on the similar platform  but

There are many things which differentiate CheckMyGaadi from other players. CheckMyGaadi consistently works on innovation and developing a tech and product line which makes Auto service experience more comfortable and cost effective.

Some of the features Which differentiate initially are as mentioned below :-

3. Majority of Service offering by CheckMyGaadi is at Doorstep including repairs too.

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

When you are a salaried person, your routine is designed and you know your work time and leisure time but as a startup Founder you can just plan when to start your day but you don’t know when your day will get over. CheckMyGaadi is my passion and when you work for your passion, you gets over with other things. Initial days I fount it difficult to cope up but my passion keeps me going now.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

We haven’t raised any funds as of now. Yes, Definitely we’re looking to raise funds to expand our business in all the major Tier 1 cities in India

 

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

People has a dilemma over getting service from professional service provider like us as they are habituated visiting their nearby garages but once they avail service and see the pricing and service quality they come to us again and that is something motivates us.

 

What gets you excited about this company?

CheckMyGaadi want to be a single roof  solution for All car service, Repair and maintenance for every Car owners and this Vision is big enough to keep us motivated and excited always.

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

I start my day at 7 and read for an hour. I hit my office at 9 and my day plan is always made last evening before I finish my work for the day.  I just check my schedule and it keeps going. I wear many Caps everyday from an a Salesperson to HR to CEO.

 

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

When I was sure what to do and how to do, I wanted a Co-Founder to be there to bridge the gaps of knowledge which was required for me to build what I wanted to. I met my childhood friend (Vivek) and discuss the idea and vision I had. He was excited to know the plan and joined me in this journey and since than I never looked back. Now we have inhouse 6 member team and 17 field team member. Hiring is a continuous job which is in my daily list.
