We at Bangalore Insider had the opportunity to catch up with Manohar, the co-founder of JoeyRooms and to know more about the startup, read his inspiring story.

 

 

Give a brief info about your startup?

Despite several aggregators in the market in the hotel and rental  segment, there remain very few players catering to daily and monthly  accommodation for PGs and Hostels. Especially when one considers the internet to be the basic search medium, there is no structured solution to finding reliable information about PGs and Hostels. Just like Hotels need online visibility, the same rings true for PG and Hostel owners who, at the moment, solely depend on word-of-mouth publicity to reach out to their customers.

However, JoeyRooms’ founder Mr. Manohar Goddam has a different vision. With his bang-in-the-middlebusiness structure, he is all set to build a strong network of good PGs and Hostels and make booking an easy affair for end-users, mostly students and young professionals, at a single click.

A win-win situation for both accommodation providers and end-users, JoeyRooms is projected to grow rapidly as the next big aggregator in the accommodation segment. With operations mushrooming in Hyderabad and
Bangalore initially, and with  the service will soon spread to major Tier-1 and Tier-2 Indian Cities.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?
Being a frequent traveller, I know how much money we need to spend on accommodation as expenditure. From an Indian mindset ,budget always play a key role in travel planning .

” With Joeyrooms we can book a room in a city like Bangalore for just Rs.200 per day (inclusive of food charges).Such facilitation can change the hospitality sector drastically in India.It will be a best option for
all those people looking for savings like students, Marketing professionals and frequent travellers. For girls, it’s always a challenge to convince their parents on their stay at a hotel alone. So now with JoeyRooms, they can book daily accommodation in a PG for girls and stay with the gang of girls”

In Hostels, we will have different sharing models and a single sharing model offers one exclusive room for better privacy . Joeyrooms also offers booking platform for Hotels, service apartments & Homestays apart from Hostels.We did not have the plan for Monthly accommodation initially but later as we explored the market we realized that there is no proper platform for booking Hostels online. Still users are following the traditional method of obtaining the contacts online, calling the owner, asking all the relevant questions often struggling with an
unknown language. So we thought of keeping the option of monthly accommodation booking in advance by enabling the features to check all the available facilities online. No more struggling with calls,language
and roaming on roads.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?
My startup based out of Warangal second largest city in Telanagana state, I am basically from warangal and Telangana Govt welcoming startups in warangal.
As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?
Joeyrooms started with vision to become India’s new address for Budget accommodation and that’s always make me to plan to reach that goal.
Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?
We have different key players in market for individual segment but joeyrooms in only platform which is offering Daily and Monthly accommodation Booking facility.
 How hard is it to have a work life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

I believe one thing that if you love your work no balancing required.

 

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

No we didn’t raise any funding but we are planning to raise the funds.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

Have multiple similar booking platforms already and joeyrooms is one of the similar platform,but joeyrooms is different it started with vision to provide the budget accommodation to every one and joeyrooms is technology platform which is providing daily,weekly and Monthly basis accommodation.

What gets you exited about this company?

My vision to make it India’s new address for Budget accommodation, By 2019 August when some one think about Budget accommodation Joeyrooms should come in to picture across India.

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

Morning-First check the mail and calendar of the day,make sure to complete all the meetings max by 5PM and then review the day and Business operations.

Most of the day with meetings ,travelling and presentations and mentors.
