There is no limit to human imagination and creativity.

Human curiosity and ingenuity discovered and produced fire and the wheel. From harnessing the potential of running water, to figuring out the power of the steam engine to move goods and people, to building skyscrapers, to planning cities, humanity has come a long way. Creativity is an innate human quality and harnessing it effectively to create useful things is a trait unique to humans.

Hobbies give us meaning, a skill to latch on to and develop every day. It may be sports, it may be music, it could be art and crafts or gardening or working with nature, anything and everything, as long as it makes one feel at peace. There is no limit to creating value for others, especially in today’s day and age of hyper-connectivity and technological development, when marketing your product or service in search of one’s audience has never been easier, provided one knew where to look for.

Case in point, the gifting industry. The gifting industry works solely on the basis of creativity and ingenuity since no product line can be standardised. Simply because, although the base of the gift may be the same, say a plant or a cake, the other elements of the gift needs to be personalised for each client and each occasion, requiring customised planning and thinking.

Think MagicRootz.

Give a brief info about your start-up?

Magicrootz started in December, 2017. We deal with terrariums, miniature gardens. We customise our terrarium based on the requirements of our client such as anniversary theme, birthday theme, house warming theme etc. We do re-creation of moments too.  For example, we could re-create a customer’s favourite moment in our miniature garden.

What made you start your start-up and what problem does it solve?

Since childhood, I have loved gardening and doing crafts in my free time so I wanted to continue it that’s why I started it by clubbing it together. Also, my family and friends used to support each of my creations. It always makes me stress free and happy when I see the end product

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this start-up?

I have completed my BTech and MBA. Currently working in IT, this is my part time job.

Where is your start-up based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

The customers who are looking for personalisation and unique gifts can approach me because each of my products are unique with their own customisation. Also, these are real plants. To have them inside the home or workspace, would mean giving a pleasant feel and always remind one of their loved ones

As a start-up founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

Even though I give variety of products definitely innovation is a key to success By studying and knowing the current market trends and customer needs I will be thinking what can I make next to be the best than my previous products.

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

I don’t see anyone as a competitor because each of my products are unique. Also, the products like re-creation are done from scratch where we don’t refer it anywhere based on the requirements, we will build it up.

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a start-up founder and how do you manage it?

Yah it’s quite difficult to manage personal profession and passion. But when we see them as our own daily habits and the end result from profession and passion the satisfaction matters a lot.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

No, we haven’t. So far i am managing with my IT salary and the returns which am getting. In future when I Expand it definitely, I will be looking

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

I am not sure. May be due to the price they may think about the cost of making products. But to gather things, the investment of time which we are giving for each product are more.

What gets you excited about this company?

Customers’ reviews. After struggling to build the product when the customer reviews it means a lot to us

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

8 to 8 it will be filled with my personal work and profession. In case if there is urgent delivery will do it night time. There been days where I used to sleep at 4 or 5 in the morning.  And daily I will complete little and at the weekend I will assemble it all together.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

My friends used to help a lot to buy plants, transportation, reviews, content writing. giving ideas and helping to try new products. They all are my best friends from college who used to ask me to keep bouquet in my BTech days and now they are part of my team
