ModMonk: Helping people to maintain sound mental health especially during the pandemic

Just like the body’s own biological endeavor towards homeostasis (known as the ‘ideal environment’ to carry out biological processes in our body, for metabolism, respiration and the other systems), humanity as a collective, also ought to strive towards both material and spiritual comfort. The universe is not black or white, it is a combination of many shades. Similarly, human beings are also composed of many shades, and therefore,we must strive towards complete individual and collective harmony. First, we need individual mind-body balance.

How do we do that?

We focus on both our external and internal environment. The external environment meaning everything from the quality of our social relationships to the food we eat and the air we breathe. The internal environment meaning chiefly the activities and techniques to achieve ideal composition of neurochemicals and brain frequencies required to pursue all our goals with a serene, calm ‘flow’. A state of mind where a sense of clarity permeates everything in our lives, as if everything is connected; a new perspective to life so to speak, the result being a commitment towards one’s highest possible state of excellence, eventually over time, would take years surely.

The endeavor must begin as soon as possible because a better life is within reach of us all, and the sooner we realize our collective destiny with regards to our brief life on this planet, and a future mired in unpredictability, the better it is for us. We need all the help we can get. Today, at Bangalore Insider we spoke to Mod Monk Anshul, the founder of Soul School, a company dedicated to helping individuals achieve spiritual and material mastery. Below are the excerpts from our interaction.

Give a brief info about your startup?

We at Soul School look at development of individuals in personal, professional and spiritual areas across all spectrums. Founded in 2015, we have been helping people grow by conducting talk sessions at corporates and teaching at universities as a visiting faculty member.

At Soul School, we not only cater to psychology, personality but more so look at healing, regression, therapy, tarot and many areas of personal and spiritual development. We also look at teaching young children the concepts of Bhagwat Geeta and Vedas. At the centre we look at spiritual, emotional relationship healing while we teach meditations and Kirya Sadhnas to spiritual aspirants.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

It was my dream to have a spiritual development centre where we would blend spirituality, psychology and management to help people and individuals gain a monkful bliss in the modern day living.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

Being a Business Psychologist, mind transformer, a mystic and & spiritual coach, I strongly believe and want to spread the importance of “awakening of one’s existence”. By blending spiritual and modern life, we coached people on their spiritual and life paths helping them understand their soul, life, karma and blueprints, learning lessons – making them calmer and self-aware, mindful, stress-free individuals. With an experience deep-rooted in Vedic knowledge and modern academics, we help with the personal and spiritual growth of an individual. We coach and guide groups and individuals for the same.

Other than conducting personal sessions and therapies at Soul School, we work with the leading experts in the world training, coaching and mentoring people in the corporates. Within the educational sector, I’m the visiting faculty member with renowned institutes like Symbiosis International centre for corporate education, Flame, teaching personality, communication, leadership with streaks of self-development and mentor for the University of Westminster, and many other platforms.

Being highly intuitive and a psychic from a very young age of eleven, I always knew – monkhood would be my path at some point in life. My message to the world is simple, “Life transformation through love, balance and awareness. Blending modern-day life with monk-ful bliss, through self-realisation and walking inward breaking belief systems of our beings to really see the true nature of our divine being.” Hence, my mission is to end the age-old conventional dichotomy between “material” and “spiritual” world.

Academically speaking, I have pursued three Masters’ Degrees and a handful of certifications from the best institutes across the globe and took up monkhood in 2016.

Multiple prestigious platforms like Rotary, Oman India Chamber of Commerce, Radio Mirchi, Radio One, TEDx Pune, TEDx TajNagri – Agra, etc invited me as a Speaker to help people in transforming their being and awakening them. My work has been awarded and recognised by many, across the country like  India Icon Zee New-as Business spiritual Coach, WEFT – Leadership Award, PIFA AWARDS 2018 Mumbai – Best Spiritual Coach, etc to name a few.

Previously have worked with Multi-National corporates across the globe, like Bloomberg, UTV, TCS London, Ronin Corp etc.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

We are currently based out of Pune, but we travel across the globe to help transform the lives of people.

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

Nothing. I teach monkful bliss. And the main thing is to be in the moment, what shall happen will happen, and what is not going to will never. We do our part in this world and leave the rest to the universe.

Who are your competitors and how are you better than them?

I do not believe in competition, we are all here to fulfil our purpose and help.

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

There is no such thing as work life balance if you really see, when you work you put your heart in it and then you live your life in a way that it blends well and live that too to the fullest. You focus on each part completely when you are acting in the part, and you do not need to create any balance, the balance is always there we just need to understand it.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

Yes, we are looking to raise funding. As a foundation we want Soul School to be completely self-sufficient, we want it to help people, through people – so that it stays longer than me, passing teachings and ways of life.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

People do not understand the monkhood and modern life style blend. They do not really understand what exactly I do, as I have many aspects to work. The fact that I have 3 masters and lived my life in a very modern way, me being a monk and practicing and talking detachment really is something that people find difficult to comprehend. For them either you are this or that. But truly I am nothing, no one is.

What gets you excited about this company?

That it will help people recognise their true essence, and help guide them in their journey inwards.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

My day starts at 3:30-4:00 am with meditation and prayers and ends around 10:30 pm. I sit to write some pieces of work in the morning and then start my regular chores like breakfast and work, sessions, classes, workshops, counsellings, etc.

I relax with books, read, paint, draw, dance – being a classical dancer I find dancing a beautiful form of expressing divine love.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

It was a very tedious journey to find the right kind of people, especially because the kind of work we do – it was difficult to understand and cope with. However, the universe helped us meet through most random ways, through internet, Facebook, and even through friends of friends. We are a six member team including me.
