The tadka which  your mum puts in the dal has a secret ingredient and it should be passed to the next generation. Every dish which is cooked in the Kitchen by your dad, the first burnt aloo curry which your sister made or the first tea which your brother made while you were studying hard must be appreciated and recognized beyond the walls of the house and that’s what Plattershare is doing.

We got an opportunity to know about the startup, it is an inspiring story of the founders Kirti and Ankush. Read their full story to know more about them.

Founders: Kirti and Ankush

They can also collaborate with food professionals, Food bloggers for various brand promotions and marketing requirement. Over and all, a Place where all the food quest is answered.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

Food inspired the cofounders of Plattershare, Ankush Dhiman and Kirti Yadav.

We see a huge opportunity to connect people, to appreciate and recognize the efforts of every cook ( be it home chef or professional chef) and every foodie (food bloggers, food photographers and food entrepreneur and even the big food brands) who think only and only about food.

We are connecting the world for their love of food.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

Ankush Dhiman , who hails from Shimla and has a Hotel Management degree from IHM Pusa worked for MNC like IBM and Aon Hewitt and had a complete inclination to solve things technically and yet add the creative aspect to everything technical thing which he designs where as Kirti Yadav who has computer science grad from HBTI Kanpur has worked with various MNC like IBM, Target and AIG and had a corporate experience of 10+ years before she found her true calling ie food.

What started as a simple food blog and facebook page is now a strong community of 20K + really passionate foodies.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

We are based out of the startup and IT hub of India, Bangalore and we feel this is the best place to be, as from foodies to food entrepreneurs all are based here and a lot happening in food sector is first seen in Bangalore and Mumbai and we are in one of these cities.

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

We are a foodies first and then the startup founders and We have a different perspective to look at the world where we put people first. We are here to change and touch the soul of the foodies and influence them to think that life has to be lived at the fullest especially when they sit to eat food.

If a business is started, its meant to give peace, happiness and joy to the people who are associated with it and not to make them paranoid about few things.

So we sleep peacefully at night with a beautiful thought that tomorrow Plattershare is going to deeply touch at least one more heart with its recipes, information about food and the appreciation and recognition which we give on our platform. We sleep to get up and get going.

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

The competition from existing recipe websites and food related websites is something which keeps us on our toes however the kind of platform we are working on creating would eventually help these platforms to promote themselves though Plattershare.

How hard is it to have a work life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

Ankush, still unmarried says life is cool for him as he is right now married to Plattershare and is completely concentrating on it. In his free time he likes to do yoga, meditation and go for cycling to remain balanced. Apart from the support from family, team and friends, the tremendous amount of support from his younger brother made things much easier for him and when you know you have people you can trust and depend upon, handling work life balance becomes a little easier.

Kirti who has a 4 year old daughter  and a 4 year old startup to manage finds things completely under control as long as she has a strong support system of her Team, Clients, family, friends and her biggest support her Husband.

Of course the Family and friends always support but she feels very positive about the food-world fraternity and all the clients whom she has worked with till now (call it luck or the positive change) that they understand that She is a mompreneur and managing her kid is equally important as she runs her business. And all her clients have been equally supportive for this.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

We are bootstrapped startup and yes we are preparing ourselves to approach accelerator programs now.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

Well as for Ankush he is a reserved guy who talks less and often mistaken for having loads of attitude however people change their opinion to quite opposite once they talk to him. Kirti on the other side, talks a lot and sometimes goes beyond which might hurt people but eventually they know that she is not that bad 🙂

What gets you excited about this company?

What’s cooking in someone’s kitchen? Where is someone eating? Is some food entrepreneur starting to live their dream today? Is the big food brand looking to reach out to its potential customers and is still thinking of the unique and innovative way? Is there a new food product launch? Any new restaurant to look for? Can we make a social impact by sharing the stories of people who really need food?

All these questions and finding the answers for them excites us but what really excites us is that are we really entering the “Belly” of our foodies.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

Ankush starts his day with some light exercise and yummy breakfast that includes sprouts for sure (yeah, he finds them tasty). The work starts with checking Plattershare stats, making announcements on social media, checking emails, discussions with Kirti and other scheduled tasks for the day. He does not like to miss out on his running and cycling in the evening. Fond of series and movies, he likes to see at least one episode of his favorite show while working on any pending tasks. He talks to his friends and mediate before sleeping.

Let’s start from hitting the bed at 9 -9:30 PM, most of the weekdays which starts with the meditation and a sound sleep. Kirti’s day starts at 4 AM with the meditation, yoga and walk. Followed by her running behind her daughter till 9 AM. All her meeting are scheduled between 9 -12:30 PM, why because she is a mompreneur and she wants to receive her daughter every single day from school and luckily this Cinderella- type deadline has been appreciated and accepted by all her clients.  Once she is back, her work again resumes from 1:30 PM till 8 PM. Weekends are busy with the shoots and events.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

True in its sense, the two co-founder met on the social media and believed in the “The secret” of the universe as they were meant to be the part of  a venture which they were passionate about, Food inspired them and they started discussing the idea to make a platform which unites food passionate across the globe. Our Core team consist of 7 team members who is handling development of the platform, marketing and brand connect. The content team (not the users on the platform) which is one of the most important part of our startup has been designed in a very unique way, We have content partners who are home chefs and they are spread across the country and who design unique and innovative content (recipes and food stories) for the platform. We want to build a global eco-system with associates and partners, so any one who loves to cook or write about food from any part of the world is most welcome and can join our content team.
