From an amateur video shot way back in 2009 to one of the upcoming food bloggers of today, the journey of Vidyalakshmi has been quite exciting. Never had she imagined in her wildest dreams that what started as a hobby would one day turn out to be her passion and work. And lucky are those whose work is their passion.

Over the years the youtube channel of Vidyalakshmi has got bigger and with it the amount of work as well. A typical day of hers start at 3 am and can well go on deep into the night. “I have been to places I never could dream of because of my food blogging” she says with a twinkle in her eyes. Currently, she freelances and is involved with two companies for which she curates food products and solutions.

This week, we at Bangalore Insider had the opportunity to talk to Vidyalakshmi about her journey, right from the point where it all started. Here are the excerpts of the interview.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get into food blogging?

In 2009 I shot a amature video of my mom making aloo paratha and happen to upload it on YouTube and Orkut many of my friends and clients started to share the video and started requesting me more traditional home style recipes. This inspired me to share our home cooking regularly on YouTube and blogs since then I’m regularly blogging across all platforms.

What is the best thing that you like about your work?

After getting into foodblogging I happen to associate with food brands it has truly been a blessing to associate and show my talent more.

Do you normally write only about particular kinds of cuisine or is it cuisine agnostic?

I personally felt video recipes inspired people to cook more and started uploading videos regularly. There is no particular cuisine, I happen to follow the trend, season, festivals and curate healthy yet delicious dishes for everyone in the family to enjoy.

How has been the experience so far?

My experience in foodblogging has taken me to place I never imagined of I got to travel to places, experience fine dining, associate with brands, meet seasoned chefs, and celebrities every moment has inspired me or taught me to improvise to feature best for my audience.

How does a typical day in your life look like?

I freelance for two companies curating food products and solutions. I start my day typically at 3 am when I can focus and do voice overs for videos and write blogs. If I’m shooting for a recipe procuring and prep work is done ahead of time and videos are shot by 5 am so that I can start to edit and process it or if and rework I have all day to finish my work. I make sure to space out and work accordingly.

Any advice that you would like to give to upcoming food bloggers?

Try to be original always mention that person who inspired you to cook or visit the restaurant you bookmarked on social media. By the end of the day people follow only original content.
