Give a brief info about your startup?

Edsmart is a rapidly growing institute which strongly focuses on the very necessary early childhood education and professional development of a child, parent as well as organizations with a positive and strong influence on the basics of schooling and learning insights.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

Our firm provides end to end solution on pre-primary curriculum and children school books. Our curriculum believes in holistic development of a child and individualized attention given with clear learning outcome using CAP system (Continuous Assessment Program). Most of the school do not have structured curriculum with detailed Lesson plan Manual for teachers and Edsmart fully enables the school with same. All the children books are extremely child friendly and resonates well with the curriculum. Our start up not only focus on school and children it also educates parents on parenting style through online portal called hive parenting which enables them to be a better parent. Edsmart is a well-connected platform for school-child-parent.

 

 

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

I hold a master degree in Bio-chemistry. Soon after my master, I started working as research student at JNCASR foundation Headed by esteemed CNR Rao. Later I worked with Biocon for about 3 years a Sr scientist. Luckily, It didn’t take too much time for me to live my education dream. Since about a decade now I am in the education Industry.

 

 

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

Our start up is based out of Bangalore. Bangalore is a well-connected city and it is also a start up hub. Infrastructure and facilities here suit the requirement of the company.

 

 

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

Our company is an Education based company, so as a matter of fact we have to be always updated and deliver the best to children. I am always paranoid about not to miss on any of the updated system or method which helps the gen next children. There is one thing which keeps me awake in the night is constantly thinking about Innovation in Education which helps schools and children at the largest way possible.

 

 

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

Competitors are all around us. What we believe in providing is the quality product and its service. Our company not only provides a readymade curriculum for school but it also gives flexibility on customization of content. We believe every educator has their own education dream to live and Edsmart facilitate them through their journey of educating young minds.

 

 

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

Oh yes, it is quite hard to maintain the work-life balance. If we have good planning and clear priorities set then it eases the process. Of course, to mention my family is very supportive my husband, in- laws specially my children understand and cooperate very well

 

 

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

No, Edsmart is self funded company. We would consider the funding later in time based on the opportunities we could achieve with more money.

 

 

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

Misconception people may think I am upfront. But the reality is there would longer thought process before being upfront to people. This in a way helped me all through to set expectation right.

 

 

What gets you excited about this company?

I am extremely happy and super excited about our Start up. Each day is a new learning from different verticals like developing and creating new product to meeting a new client. There is a constant learning and upgradation so the work never gets monotonous. Our products will change the way child development is looked at and equip each school to raise their bar of delivery to positively influence young minds

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

My day typically start at 6 am, as a homemaker making my girls to get ready for the school. Once children are off my daily diary updates on meetings etc. I go to my office around 10 am and then no particular closing time as it goes with the day schedule. Evening I spend my time with family and I will continue to work typically from 10 to 11 in the night to revisit or catch up on any pending items for the day.

 

 

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

My team comprises many like-minded and people with thrive to influence each child growth in a positive way. We are a small core team of  8 people and extended about 30 people across the globe.
