Give a brief info about your startup?

Quantum Green (based in Bengaluru, Est: Dec 2014) is an end-to-end solution provider for complete waste management, which includes – Waste Processing, Waste to Energy and Energy Distribution. As an integrated technology company, Quantum Green have expertise in Design, Supply and Installation of biogas plants for varying applications ranging from household cooking to industrial thermal purposes, power generation

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

Am basically a Bangalorean and have seen Bangalore changing its name from Garden City to Silicon Valley and now Garbage City (with the increased inflow of population).

The main intention to start Quantum Green is to contribute whatever we can to create an eco-friendly environment for our next generation. We believe “We Do Not Inherit the Earth from Our Ancestors; We Borrow It from Next Generation” hence let’s do our little bit keep it green.

Another reason is from starting day of career, was working with Thermal Power Plants, finally one day I thought like have done enough negative karma by the setting of lot thermal plants (which creates huge air pollution) and wanted to contribute something back to nature.. JJ

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

Vinayaka Kashyap:

Completed Mechanical Engineering in 2005 and started my career in Energy Domain (Thermal Power plants) with company Triveni Engieeinring, Bangalore, then joined CICB Chemicon, Bangalore which helped to me understand more on waste to energy market on a global level. Before starting Quantum Green, I got an opportunity to work closely with GE (though Genpact) which taught me insights about biogas and waste management across various industries.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

Bangalore.

Quantum Green is based in Bangalore. Being a Bangalorean wanted to start my venture here, as our elders say Swacchata should start first at home..

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

Paranoid – I don’t know how to put it. As a startup always at the back of my mind will be thinking about “What is next for the company” à new projects, completing the existing projects, building a core team.. the to-do list will never end..!!!

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

We don’t consider anyone as a competitor, rather we consider them as our extended team with a common cause/goal. We work closely with other players/team members in this domain

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

There is no fixed time..!! Thanks to my family n friends, actually they are managing with me..!! J

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

We are looking for raising funds.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

I don’t know.. J

What gets you excited about this company?

Various challenges what we have faced from the day one and what we facing now. The entire journey à

Meeting new people

Educating and convincing them for waste management at source

No fixed salary what I used to get in the previous job. J

The way fwd for the company

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

The day starts with a phone call from any of the waste management site and day ends with a phone call again.

The schedule will be encouraging as being a startup you are an all-rounder in the company, everything has to be overviewed and managed. Many times the schedule planned will be changed with sudden surprises…!! End of the day it is fun. J
Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

I and Vinod (my other partner) were colleagues in Triveni Engineering. We know each other for more than a decade now.

We are a lean team with managing activities individually in a typical startup style.
