Tales Of A Nomad is all about travel blogging by Niranjan Das.
I dream of setting foot on every single country on planet earth and meeting adorable strangers, traversing untrodden roads, learning new tongue twister languages, tasting mouth-watering cuisines, studying vibrant cultures, experiencing breathtaking adventures and capturing exotic landscapes, saya Niranjan.
We at Bangalore Insider had an opportunity to have an interview with Niranjan. Here are the excerpts.
Tell us a bit about yourself? How and when did you start being an influencer?
Am Niranjan, an Indian travel blogger who loves being on the road. Be it long bike rides or treacherous trekking or leisure holidaying or backpacking through the countryside or an engrossing train journey, I love to do anything and everything that involves travel. I dream of setting foot on every single country on planet earth and meeting adorable strangers, traversing untrodden roads, learning new tongue twister languages, tasting mouth-watering cuisines, studying vibrant cultures, experiencing breathtaking adventures and capturing exotic landscapes.
I find Atlas and travelogues as the most exciting books. I believe life is a travelogue and we are all nomads.
What is the thing that excites you most in your work?
Travel is always exhilarating, but writing down experiences and recreating them for my readers is an equally exciting part of my job. It also gives me an opportunity to go down the wonderful memories from my travels once again.
What would you do differently if you had started now?
Frankly speaking, I might not have started a travel blog now, as the niche has over the last few years become too crowded with numerous travel bloggers. I would have rather stuck to just travelling.
Which people or books have had the most effect on your growth and why?
My fellow travel bloggers and writers have always been inspiring. It’s always nice to read a well written article as it inspires you to do the same. When it comes to books, I love reading about unknown lands and cultures. The place most likely ends up in my bucket list.
What would you say is the #1 key to success in your line of work?
Passion has been the biggest factor in my success as a travel blogger. While I started the blog to pen down my personal travels, it was passion for both travel and writing that helped me over the last 9 years of travel blogging.
Tell us about the biggest failure you have had. What did it teach you?
When one becomes a blogger or an influencer, the biggest support system is social media. Though I wouldn’t call it a failure on my part, I never gave sufficient importance to social media during my earlier days as a travel blogger. That really hit my blog and it took me a while to understand the role all social media websites play in the growth of a blog.
How does a typical day in your week look like?
Writing articles and sorting photographs for my blog takes a lot of time every day. Apart from that, I also write and collaborate with other travel brands which takes up the remaining time. Once all my writings are done, I pack my bags to travel again.
What keeps you going when things get tough in your work or life?
I feel persistence plays a big role in life. It is not uncommon for situations to go wrong or for things to not fall in place as expected. But, persistence definitely helps me overcome such situations.
Any advice to our readers who might be thinking of emulating you?
Travel blogging might seem quite an interesting career option. However, in travel blogging, blogging comes first. Travel is always secondary.
