What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?
Me (Varun) and Piyush visited few coworking spaces as we were working on some other idea and we realized that the kind of office space and the kind of services we wanted did not exist , so we decided to create a coworking space where we can create ambience for people where one feels like coming to office everyday
Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?
Varun is an alumni of the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). He has more than 10 years of experience handling challenging roles with brands like DCM Shriram, Amira and Wave. He has handled a plethora of roles, starting with Financial Modelling to Sales.
Piyush is a pass out of the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. An avid marketing enthusiast, he has worked with brands like Aviva, IMRB and Wave.
Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?
Our startup is currently based out of Delhi and Mumbai and these are the places where you find most of the commercial and startup activities happening which gives us immense scope to carter to them create diverse community in long run.
As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?
If you do things in the right way with right spirit so nothing can frighten you and I have always been optimistic about things and looked for opportunities in failure too.
Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?
Exponential growth is more important to us, having said that I believe in healthy competition which enables us to uphold our market value strong in the coworking business so that we keep our best foot forward. There are many competitors in the market but our endeavour is to be the best in whatever we do.
We have grown in a manner keeping the most basic requirements in perspectives. Our presence is in the following places:
Nariman Point, Mumbai
Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi
Nehru Place, New Delhi (Opening shortly, bookings are open)
Sarvoday Enclave, New Delhi (Opening shortly, bookings are open)
Apart from these locations, we are working hard to spread out to various other cities where organizations are looking for leaner operations and hence co-working offices.
Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.
No, we have not raised any funding and also not looking forward to do the same.
The feeling of making a big community where everyone shares knowledge and ideas with each other and helps them so that the community can be part of each other growth. It makes me happy that I can create that ecosystem in my organization.
How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?
Work life balance is an important part of the organizational culture of Workly. It would be ironic if we don’t have a good work life balance but at the same time strive to provide the same to our patrons! Having said that, we learn from our partners and try to have the optimum balance.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?
It is not only about us, but a widespread misconception about co-working that it is meant only for startups! So naturally, we also face the same bias. People have it because the advent of co-working coincided with the startup boom of the first decade of the century. The truth is that any organization that looks forward to have a lean structure, should go for co-working. Smart organizations have already understood this and started exercising this option. Many of our own partners are established firms and have moved in with us as we fulfill their lean organizational needs.
What gets you excited about this company?
We are in business with a mission. The mission is to create a niche in co-working space which transcends not only the actual workplace but also the whole experience that comes with it. The sense of belongingness, accessibility and the going the extra mile for our partners is our priority. This is what excites us!
Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.
We both are dedicated to our families. So the day starts with them. Work does try to weigh down heavily and is never out of sight but still, we believe that charity begins at home. With such a positive start, the day moves on and work can mean looking after the team and motivating them, drawing out expansion plans, strategizing on various fronts and of course, clients!
