Lands are precious commodities.

They hold the sources of food, fuel, medicine and materials that build the products and services for modern civilization, which are run by systems that establish trust between groups of people. In a dominantly material-based economy, that relies on cheap sources of energy to unlock further economic value for other organizations and people, it is prudent to say that whichever entity controls the land, stands to unlock financial independence.

An independent residence remains the dream of aspiring people worldwide, while the formats of housing continue to evolve, from fledgling bungalows and high-rise accommodations to beach-front huts and fabricated houses independent of building materials sourced from refining crude oil. In today’s day and age, what does it mean to ‘have a house’? A safe, secure, quiet place for contemplation and infotainment? Each individual’s idea of a house is different just like every individual is different. Similarly, apart from using land for family or professional purposes, there are commercial reasons to put land to productive use.

Today, at Bangalore Insider, we spoke to the founder of Krypton Global Investment, a consulting firm that helps Indian investors navigate the waters of international real estate. Below are the excerpts from our interaction.

Give a brief info about your startup?

Krypton Global Investment is a breakthrough platform in India, dedicated to marketing and selling International properties and investment opportunities to discerning Indian investors. We offer a 360-degree consultation on the entire process of overseas transactions and help the investors understand why International Real Estate Investment

In today’s times, when the world is tending to a global village, separated by its physical and cultural boundaries but united by the internet and social media, international opportunities are endless. An increased number of international students, welcoming migration laws and increasingly accessible travel has blasted open the investment market to include a new and rapidly growing segment; International Investments.

As an answer to this upcoming demand, a dynamic expert in international real Estate India designed a first-of-its-kind Indian platform, dedicated to showcasing International Luxury Properties, Global Investment Opportunities and Migration Options to a global market and “Krypton Global Investments” was born.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

The thought process behind my start-up was to make a difference, create an impact and build my own community professionally! After putting in more than a decade of working with top international real estate companies, it was time to start my own boutique agency and thus “Krypton Global Investments” was launched formally on 2nd of July 2018.

The vision behind the brand is to create a seamless e-commerce platform for Indian investors to look at global opportunities in the residential/commercial and retail real estate space and other areas like Migration and acquisition of Business.

We are trying to cater to the growing demand of Global Indians looking at alternative investments overseas and offer them a 360 degree solution which includes advisory in all aspects. KGI is perhaps the first of its kind online platform dedicated to buying and selling of International Real Estate / Migration programs and business opportunities.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

My journey with selling International Properties began, when I sold my own ancestral home in London. It struck me even then, on how seamless and effortless the transaction was. I eventually started my career with selling UK properties to Indian HNIs way back in 2007 and the journey continued since then.

I have held senior management positions in major corporate giants like Dandara- UK, Knight Frank India, Coldwell Banker India & Colliers International.

Despite holding senior management positions and having a vast body of work in the domestic sector, it was always my passion to market and sell International properties.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

My startup “Krypton Global Investments” is headquartered in the heart of Mumbai.

Mumbai is the financial, entertainment and commercial capital of India with the highest number of millionaires. The city is home to global Indians who study, live & work overseas. It is also one of the most expensive cities in the world where the best talent comes to work & do business. With Giant Corporations to an amazing pool of talent, with great cultural diversity & safety for women – the city has a vibrant business environment.

I think, apart from a huge investor base Mumbai gives entrepreneurs access to a number of allied services which helps to grow the startups as well as potential customers in this city. The city is receptive to great ideas & people – that makes it the best place to have a startup.

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

What keeps me awake at night is the thought & well-being of my young and high-aspiring team who are partners in my journey of entrepreneurship. It motivates me to see that what I started as my individual dream has now become a collective dream of the Krypton team as they strive to excel and outperform themselves.

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

We are perhaps the only Indian platform offering real estate investment, migration and alternative investment services as a specialised boutique agency. Our key enabler is the team of professionals, our network, knowledge and complete transparency in dealings. We see ourselves as the most trusted, relied upon and reputed “go to solution” for any international players looking to enter the Indian subcontinent and for any Indian investor wanting to explore opportunities globally.

Our key differentiators are:

Using technology to reach newer markets including growing demand from tier 2 cities

Have representatives in major cities for better reach

Build the brand presence through digital & social media marketing

We hand hold the client throughout the process and are there for any support

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

It is not very hard to have a work-life balance with the understanding that pressures and stressful situations would be part of the natural business cycle. What helps is to have an understanding & supportive team which is flexible enough on accomplishing the tasks also comes in handy. Apart from that, there is family & friends which helps me greatly to sail through stressful situations.

Besides, I do believe in giving back to the society in some way, however small it is. I teach in an underprivileged school for children & train them in communication skills. It gives me tremendous joy to see them excel in their careers.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

Bootstrapped when we started, the company became cash flow positive in the 1st year and now in our second year we hope to double our revenue.

Currently, we are self-funded & are working towards aggressive double-digit growth

What are the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

The biggest misconception people have about me is that since I am a people’s person who believes in an open door policy sometimes they feel they can get away with anything.  I am friendly with people and try to help them in all possible ways but when it comes to work, I want my team to be responsible about their duties & deadlines. They must think & innovate independently as I do not believe in micro-managing them.

What gets you excited about this company?

There is nothing that can stop you once you set your mind to it. It takes courage to give up a well-paying job to start something on your own. So I get excited to finally do something on my own in my own chosen field.

With geographic barriers merging and the millennial trend of living, working and exploring life beyond borders is very much in line with our brand philosophy “It’s a small world”. We are excited to provide an uncluttered breakthrough platform to international developers who are keen on marketing and selling their properties in India. Similarly, we are focused on enabling Indian investors to look at various opportunities for investments/migration or business across the world.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

A typical day would be, waking up at 7 am, talking to my kids, then settling down with the papers and tea, leaving for work with a clear agenda for the day and taking the regular evening walk post work. The day begins & ends with a prayer too for the well-being of all. Weekends are spent with family and friends, catching up with movies, social life, reading and television.

The first thought that inspires me to get up every day is the fact that now apart from my own livelihood, I am also responsible for my high aspiring, enthusiastic and sincere young team.  As a mentor to my team, I feel responsible towards making them learn the ropes & inspiring them to do their best.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

My team is a young & enthusiastic mix of fresher’s & industry experienced professionals.  Few of them have come through my professional acquaintances & colleagues, who have worked with me in the past. Some of them are freshly recruited from the campus and also through placement ads on our social media handles.
